1-night East Coast Adventure: Snowmobile and Cabin Escape
March - April
Winter on Svalbard is something truly special. From March to May, the returning sun brings the very best conditions for long snowmobile adventures. And while a day trip is memorable, the experience becomes even more powerful when you spend more than one day out in the wilderness. When the day visitors leave, silence settles over the landscape. That’s when we can look for wildlife, follow the changing light, and ease into nature’s rhythm. Disconnecting takes time – and that is exactly why we offer overnight trips, with one or more nights out in the field. Want to stay even longer? Contact us and we’ll tailor an expedition for you.
To the East Coast of Svalbard
Our journey takes us to the mighty East Coast – a region known for its colder climate, vast glacier systems, and sea ice that often lies safe to travel across. This is a rare adventure that few people in the world will ever experience.
What the Trip Looks Like
You’ll drive your own snowmobile, warmly dressed in expedition gear, following the guide into the endless white. Along the way we take generous breaks – to capture photos, enjoy hot drinks, watch for wildlife, and simply embrace the silence.
The exact route is always shaped by weather and nature, and that’s part of the experience. Our guides are highly experienced and eager to share their knowledge. You are in safe hands – and no matter what the day brings, you’ll return with memories for life.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Into the Wilderness
This is the shorter version of the expedition – but packed with adventure. We’ll pick you up at your hotel at 17:00 and take you to our expedition base. After a safety briefing, fitting of warm snowmobile clothing, and packing the sleds, you’ll get an introduction to snowmobiling before we leave town behind. The first leg is around 60–70 km – the perfect start to get comfortable on the scooter and familiar with the terrain. At Fulmar Cabin, a simple but cozy base surrounded by towering mountains, we prepare a hearty dinner before settling in for the night. It’s the perfect starting point for exploring the East Coast the next day.
Day 2 – The East Coast of Svalbard
After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, we pack up and set off on a longer ride. The day’s route depends on weather and conditions – possible destinations include Agardhbukta or Mohnbukta. Wherever we go, breathtaking landscapes await. The glaciers are snow-covered in winter, but at their fronts the deep blue ice shines through. If conditions allow, we may drive out onto the sea ice – home to seals and polar bears. We always take time to scan for wildlife, and with some luck, we might catch a glimpse from a safe distance. But remember – this is just a bonus to the adventure. The essence of the trip is being present in Svalbard’s raw nature: the silence, the cold, and the feeling of standing in one of the world’s most majestic landscapes.
After lunch in the wilderness, we turn back towards Longyearbyen. You’ll arrive around 17:00 – with memories you’ll remember for a long time.
