Explore Svalbard on Foot – Trek into the Wilderness
The most immersive way to experience Svalbard is by hiking. Moving through the landscape under your own power creates a deep connection to the elements – the mountains, the silence, the raw beauty. And when you hike with one of our experienced guides from Svalbard Wildlife Expeditions, you’ll hear the stories of the place and gain a deeper understanding of the Arctic environment.
We offer guided hikes all year round. In summer, we trek across the tundra and climb to mountain peaks for breathtaking views. There’s something truly special about spending a full day outdoors, and we tailor each hike to suit your group’s interests and fitness level.
There’s so much waiting to be discovered: hike to panoramic mountain plateaus, walk across ancient glaciers, or visit the bird cliffs teeming with life. During the Polar Night, we light our way with headlamps and use snowshoes when needed. This is also the time of year when we can explore the hidden world beneath the glacier – stepping into frozen meltwater channels and breathtaking ice caves.
