You must have experience in skiing off-piste, and preferably have experience with ski touring. Avalanche safety pack is mandatory to bring on all ski tours with Svalbard Wildlife Expeditions*
You don't need to be an expert in ski technique - we have certified guides who will get you up safely and can give you good tips on the way down. What we want is to create the best possible day for you alongside us in Svalbard.

Recommend to bring:
- Good, warm and sealed ski boots*
- Ski equipment (skis, shoes, poles and helmet)*
- Avalanche package (search probe, shovel and avalanche beacon)*
- Warm clothes
- Cold drink (preferably in a thermos as liquid can freeze to ice)
- Camera
- Backpack
- Sleeping bag*

We serve warm meals. Bring your own packed lunches if needed.
Larger luggage can be stored in our warehouse or in the accommodation's luggage room.

Itinerary
Come and visit our favorite "playground"! If you are a passionate, alpine summiting enthusiast or want to experience ski tours in a way that fits Svalbard as a location perfectly, this is the tour for you.
In this area, snow has built up since September. We include all types of alpine skis to test the arctic snow (randonnee, splitboard and telemark). Skiing in Svalbard is not about the perfect snow or the steepest ride, but about skiing in a remote and wild landscape.
This trip is suitable for those who want the best of Svalbard by living outside in a tent and having access to skiing at all times of the day. Here you learn how to set up a camp in the Arctic area, how to live out in the cold, polar bear watch at night and how to move in the Arctic environment, of course with skis on your feet. We will have the camp between fantastic mountain peaks.
Everyone in the camp is assigned shifts to keep polar bear watch at night, so the camp is safe, and you get good experience in how to set up and live in a camp in the Arctic and in polar bear terrain, thoroughly taught by our guide throughout the entire expedition.
