This hike takes you to a place far away from town to the silence of the Arctic. A different adventure than our other hikes.
After we pick you up, we drive to Adventdalen, leaving the settlement behind us. We pass by a lot of interesting sites – the Isdammen, old airport, the old mines before we get to EISCAT area with radar systems which are used to monitor interactions between the Sun and the Earth.
Equipped with solid snowshoes, we will head up to the glacier Foxfonna where we will take a break to enjoy a hot lunch. From there, we will have a view that will make you understand the meaning of the word "ice cap" – there are glaciers wherever you look!

As our groups are international, our tours are guided in English.

This trip is suitable for:

Age limit: 12 years

Level: 3 of 5

The hike is moderately difficult because of the mountain hike in cold weather.

What to bring/wear:

Solid warm hiking boots, extra warm clothing, drinking water (in thermos as this can easily freeze to ice), a camera, an extra sweater to wear during breaks and on the way back, and a backpack with space for this.

If you do not have warm boots, you can rent a pair for NOK 100,- If the snow conditions demand, we use snowshoes or do alternative hike.

During this hike we will serve a warm drink and snacks. Bring extra food if needed.

Extra equipment and clothes:

Stop by Arctica - Høyfjellsspesialisten på Svalbard.
